VC hands over probe to CID

Visakhapatnam, November 21, 2006

At a press conference on Tuesday, the Vice Chancellor of Andhra University (AU) L. Venugopal Reddy said that the University has handed over the inquiry into the tampering of marks lists of PG and degree examinations to the CID.

He said that the internal committee set up to probe the marks scandal confirmed that some students of M.Sc Chemistry and other courses of 2005-06 batch were awarded pass marks despite they failed in the examinations. The committee found that the mark lists were tampered with just before feeding the data to computers. However, the internal inquiry is going on. He said more facts will come soon. Meanwhile, the authorities have suspended Suryanarayana, a senior employee in connection with the scandal and the junior assistant Apparao who was also involved in the issue was absconding.
