The University invites applications for admission into M.Phil and Ph.D Programmes in Development Studies (Part-time) for the academic year 2006-07. The Programmes are organized in collaboration with Centre for Economic and Social Studies (CESS), Hyderabad. These prorgrammes have no age restriction and are designed to enable the employed persons to do research while in service. The programmes are offered in the following areas:

1.Commerce
2.Development Statistics
3.Economics
4.Geography
5.Political Science and Public Administration
6.Sociology

Eligibility:

i. M.Phil

Masters Degree with Second Division in Social Sciences or allied disciplines. Admission is based on Entrance Test in one of the subjects listed above and an interview.

ii.Ph.D

M.Phil Degree from any recognized university or 60% marks in M.Phil Part-I (i.e course work of Dr. BRAOU) or Masters Degree with Second Division from any recognised University with TWO research publications in standard academic journals/other published research work of high quality.

Application forms can be obtained from the Office of the Director, CESS in payment of Rs.100/- (Rupees One Hundred Only) either in Cash or Demand Draft drawn in favour of Director, CESS in any nationalised bank from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM during working days (Monday to Friday). Application forms and the guidelines (with details of admission criteria, fees etc.) can also be downloaded from the CESS website www.cess.ac.in. The filled in application forms along with a registration fee of Rs. 500/- (Rupees Five Hundred Only) by cash or DD drawn in favour of Director, CESS payable at Hyderabad should reach the coordinator (Research Programmes), Centre for Economic and Social Studies, Begumpet, Hyderabad 500 016 on or before 5:00 PM on Tuesday, the 28th February 2006. It may be noted that all communications should be addressed/sent to the Coordinator (Research Programmes), CESS, Begumpet, Hyderabad and no communication should be addressed/sent to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University.

Entrance Test and Interviews

For eligible candidates, Entrance Test for M.Phil will be conducted on Sunday, the 19th March 2006 at St. Francis Degree College for Women, Umanagar, Begumpet, Hyderabad. The interviews for short-listed candidates for M.Phil and Ph.D will be held at CESS in Friday and Saturday, the 7th and 8th April 2006 respectively.
