Academic Block I inaugurated
The Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy on Monday said that JNTU Engineering College in Pulivendula should be developed into a model Engineering College and the Government would extend full help. Speaking at a gathering after inaugurating the Academic Block I of the college built at a cost of Rs. 3.4 crores, he congratulated the students from different parts of the State who joined the college.
He said that the Central Government had sanctioned three new IITs in the country a week ago of which one is to be located in the State. It will be set up at Medak District. For the IIT, Rs. 1,800 crores will be needed and its development will be taken in a phased manner in ensuring five year plan and Rs. 600 crore will be spent every year for its’ development. Two more JNTU colleges at Karimnagar and Vijayawada will be set up.
He said that the State Government had set up Jawahar Knowledge Centres at both engineering and arts colleges to develop the skills of the students for the job market. Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) Vice Chancellor Rajagopal presided, Kadapa MP YS Vivekananda Reddy, ZP Chairperson and top officials participated.
