The method as well as the content of evaluation of each unit of Summer Placement Report, Summer Placement Seminar, Dissertation work, Dissertation, Dissertation Seminar, Project Courses and Courses of Independent Study will be decided by the concerned guide with the consent of the Department Council. The respective teacher or the guide of the unit will do the assessment as well as grading.

Other Activities

In the latter case only the examiners will be present during the Seminar.

Method of Evaluation

The method as well as the content of evaluation of each subject of each term will be reviewed by a committee of examiners appointed by the Vice Chancellor from a panel of approved examiners. The committee will consist of atleast three examiners, of which preferably atleast two will be from outside the Department and atleast one from outside the State of Goa. Atleast one of the examiners should preferably be from the corporate sector. If the work for a committee is on the higher side, more than one committee may be appointed.

Other Information regarding Evaluation

All answer sheets, assignments, project reports, marks lists, etc. shall be available for the scrutiny of the committee. The results of the term are finalised after the approval of the committee with suitable modifications suggested by them. The committee for Term 5 will also be the scrutinising committee for Term 4.

Grades

After evaluation, each student will be graded for each unit, as per the following scheme: A Grade - Excellent, B Grade - Good, C Grade - Satisfactory, D Grade - Low Pass, F Grade - Failed

Other Information

A student would be considered as having passed in a subject of 4 units if he/she gets not more than two F grades for that paper. In general, for a pass in a subject, a student should not have a F-grade for more than 50% of the units. In case a student fails in more than 6 subjects in Terms 1, 2 and 3 taken together, the student will not be promoted to Term 5. The student will have the option of re-registering for the subject(s) in subsequent academic years by paying the appropriate fee and attempt to seek pass in the subject(s), not registering for second year terms to have a break for clearing backlog of failed subjects. Students will not be allowed to re-register for failed first year subjects while undergoing the second year term.
