About the course

Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar offers programmes in Animal Biotechnology and successful candidates are awarded M.V.Sc. degree in Animal Biotechnology. Candidates admitted to the programme are eligible for award of fellowship at the prescribed rate of Rs. 5000/- per month under the Department of Biotechnology Human Resource Development Project.

The courses are innovative and cover basic, fundamental and specialized areas related to Animal biotechnology. The students also undergo summer training in biotechnology industry / R & D institutions. Submission of thesis based on research projects carried out by the students is mandatory part of the degree programme.

The thrust area for teaching are: Principles of Biotechnology & Molecular Biology, Genetic Engineering, Cloning and Expression vectors, Cell cloning & hybridization, Tissue Culture Technology, Microbial Biotechnology, Immunology, Molecular Diagnostics, Animal Genomics, Veterinary Vaccinology, Embryo Biotechnology.

The major research areas on which the admitted students would be given research projects are: animal genomics, DNA based diagnostics, recombinant DNA technology and gene expression, molecular characterization and phylogenetic analysis of animal pathogens, immunological causes of infertility in farm animals, embryo manipulation, sexing and transfer, etc.

Eligibility

Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc & A.H.) recognised by Veterinary Council of India with at least 50% marks or 5.00/10.0 OGP or equivalent grades from a recognized University.
