About the course

Ch. Sarwan Kumar H.P. Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Palampur, offers programme in Biotechnology leading to award of M.Sc. Agricultural Biotechnology degree. This programme is in collaboration with the Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology, Palampur. Under this programme, the students admitted are imparted intensive training in the basic principles and applied aspects, both in theory and practicals, of Plant Biotechnology. All the students are paid scholarship @ Rs.1200/- per month.

The thrust areas of thesis research include, DNA fingerprinting; gene tagging, gene pyramiding and markers-assisted selection; transgenics; biotic and abiotic stress-induced gene expression and cloning; and in vitro techniques in crop improvement.

Eligibility

Bachelor's degree in Agriculture Biotechnology / Horticulture / Forestry with a minimum OGPA of 2.70/4.00 OR 6.00/10.00 OR its equivalent from a recognized University OR a degree from foreign University recognized as equivalent for the purpose (with at least 'B' grade OR its equivalent).
