About the course

University of agricultural Sciecnes, Dharwad offers M.Sc. (Agri.) in Plant Biotechnology. The Department of Biotechnology, which is a part of the Institute of Agribiotechnology (IABT) has state-of the-art equipment and facilities for research. The major thrust areas on fundamentals of recombinant DNA technology, plant and microbial biotechnology, genetics and other relevant areas. In research, major thrust is on cloning agriculturally important genes form plant and microbial sources, molecular mapping, plant transformation and validation of genes, QTL detection and transfer, etc. The students will have an opportunity to handle a live project for thesis research project.

All the students receive Rs. 1200/- month as studentship.

Eligibility

Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Horticulture or Forestry from a recognized Agriculture University. CGPA not less than 2.25 / 4.00 or 6.50 / 10.00 or its equivalent. For SC/ST and Category I candidates, mere pass is enough.
