Infosys Technologies Limited Chairman and Chief Mentor N R Narayana Murthy inaugurated the new campus building of the SDM Institute of Management Development at the Chamundi Hill Road at Siddharathanagar.
Speaking at the funciton, he said, "“The reason why India did not achieve the desired progress is that the people here do not want to sacrifice for doing something. They want to keep their interests in mind first. Make sacrifices, only then will the people start respecting you and everybody will follow you,” he advised the students. Hence, courage of dreaming, conviction and sacrificing things would help students"
Dr D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Srikshetra Dharmasthala and chairman of SDM Institute of Management Development, Mysore said, "Our economy is also marching ahead positively. Therefore, we foresee a great future for the country and our youth who are pursuing higher studies in various institutions. Our students are in no way inferior to their counterparts in other parts of the world. Mr Narayana Murthy and others in the field have established many institutions that have become famous all over the world. Their contributions have not only opened up opportunities for thousands of engineering and management talents, but also made Bangalore city as the international IT hub."
Visvesvaraya Technological University Vice-Chancellor Dr K Balaveera Reddy, SDM-IMD Vice-President D Surendra Kumar, Secretary D Harshendra Kumar, Secretary S Prabhakar, governing council members T V Mohandas Pai of Infosys, K P Surendranath, Mr Amith Judge, MD, Turner and Morrison Limited, New Delhi, Director J M Subramanya and others were also present.
Architect Mr Shirish Beri from Kolhapur, Mr Palani Swamy of Devi Constructions of Erode, Mr Ajit Sabnis of Meerambika Constructions Ltd, Bangalore and Mr K G Shetty of Bangalore were felicitated on the occassion.
