Admissions
Admission to the two year Post Graduate Programme (PGP) is open for Graduates from all disciplines through the nationally administered Common Admission Test (CAT), jointly organized by all the six IIMs in India every year. The notification for this usually appears in major news dailies in India around August and the test is conducted during the month of December. IIMK also admits Non Resident Indians and International students to its PGP.
Method of Instruction
The method of instruction at the Institute is a blend of the lecture method and experimental learning methods such as case discussions, role plays, simulations, group discussions and projects.
Domestic Candidates
Eligibility
At least a three-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent in any discipline recognized by the Association of Indian Universities/AICTE as eligible for post-graduate studies in management. Candidates appearing for the Bachelor's degree examination are also eligible to apply, provided they complete all their graduating requirements including practical examinations/viva voce/assignments before June 30, 2005. Such candidates, if selected, will be allowed to provisionally join the Programme only if they submit a certificate from the Principal/Registrar of their college/institute that they have completed latest by June 30, 2005 all the formalities including examinations, practicals and viva voce in all the subjects required for obtaining the degree. Further, they would have to produce the mark sheet and a certificate of having passed the Bachelor's degree on or before the date of registration for Term II (second half of September). Non-fulfillment of these requirements will automatically result in cancellation of the provisional admission.
Selection Procedure
Candidates seeking admission to the Institute's Post-Graduate Programme (PGP) commencing July 2005 are required to appear for the Common Admission Test (CAT) which will be conducted on November 21, 2004. Please refer to the CAT 2004 Notification placed on this website. Selection to the Post-Graduate Programme is based on criteria including the candidate's performance in CAT, academic record, work experience, group discussion and interview.
How to apply:
Candidates applying for CAT are automatically eligible to apply for the PGP of IIM Kozhikode. No additional fee is to be paid for applying to IIM Kozhikode.
Fees
Yearly expenses on tuition, library, computer, teaching material and hostel accommodation presently total up to Rs 1,00,000 for the first year and Rs 1,10,000 for the second year. Boarding is extra.
Financial Assistance
The Institute assists interested students in acquiring educational loans from financial institutions subject to their meeting the stipulated conditions. The Institute provides merit and need-based scholarships. In addition, currently, two full scholarships supported by the GE Fund and Hughes Escorts Communications Limited are in place.
Reserved Seats
As per provisions of the Government of India, seats are reserved for SC (15%), ST (7.5%) and disabled (3%) candidates meeting the Institute's admission requirements.
NRI/Foreign Students

The NRI/Foreign candidates who are present in India at the time of Common Admisson Test (CAT) are required to take the same. CAT 2004 is scheduled to be held on November 21, 2004. Please refer to the CAT 2004 notification for details.
The candidates who are not present in India at the time of CAT should produce Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) score of not more than one year's vintage. GMAT has to be taken outside India and the score should be in top 15% limit. In case of foreign nationals, TOEFL scores should also be produced. The candidates seeking admission under NRI quota should produce with the application a certificate from the Indian Embassy/High Commission/Consulate of the country where the candidate is currently based, stating that the candidate has been resident in that country continuously for a period of not less than 18 months as on December 31, 2004.
The children of NRIs are also eligible to seek admission as NRIs subject to fulfillment of the conditions stated above. In this case, the candidate's parent should have been resident abroad continuously for at least 18 months as on December 31, 2004.
The candidates should also produce three letters of recommendation (format is given with the application form).
The annual expenses on tuition, library, computing facility, teaching materials and hostel accommodation presently total up to US$ 8,000 payable at the beginning of each academic year. All other expenses including boarding charges will be borne directly by the student.

Completed application should be sent along with the documents specified above and a bank draft for US$ 100 (as processing fee) drawn in favor of `Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode' so as to reach the Institute latest by January 31, 2005. Foreign candidates should route their applications through the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. The shortlisted candidates will be required to undergo an interview before March 31, 2005. The selected candidates will be informed by April 30, 2005.
