Manorama School of Communication - Notification to Postgraduate Diploma Course in Print Journalism

MASCOM (Manorama School of Communication) invites application for is fifth one-year Postgraduate Diploma Course in Print Journalism. Requests for the Prospectus and Application Form should be accompanied by a demand draft of Rs. 500/- in favour of MASCOM, payable at kottayam. The deadline for receiving completed application is May 6, 2006. The course will begin in July 2006, and end in May 2007.

Candidates with a bachelor's degree in any discipline and those awaiting degree results may apply. Selection is based on an entrance examination to be held at Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, various centres in Kerala and in Dubai (UAE) on May 27, 2006, and an interview at MASCOM in Kottayam at the end of June 2006.

During the course the students will dissect and analyse news, bring out about 25 issues of their weekly lab newspapers, undertake overnight news-gathering field-trips and interview leading academic, political and media personalities. They will acquire advance skills in reporting, editing, speedwriting and computer software. They are also exposed to the state of the are technology and communication systems employed at Malayala Manorama. The students are provided with personal computers with 24-hours dedicated internet connectivity and telephone with STD facility for newsgathering.

MASCOM's in house instructors, both India and from abroad, are experienced journalist-teachers. Assisting the core faculty is a panel of acknowledge experts in their chosen fields. All MASCOM graduates are working in national and regional media houses across the country.

MASCOM will help provide admitted students with comfortable, furnished quarters and the canteen offers meals at subsidized rates.

The medium of instruction at MASCOM is English, but students are free to chose between English and Malayalam streams for specialization.

For students aspiring to a career in English or Malayalam Journalism, MASCOM training will give them a head start in the Profession.
