Eligibility Criteria / Entry Requirements

Post Graduate Entry Students

Full Time Students

Students who have done postgraduate (M.Des) from IIT's & IISc or PGDPD from National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad and equivalent programs in design are eligible to apply.

Part Time Students

In addition to the above qualifications the Part Time Students should have a minimum 2 Years experience in consultancy, Industry or academia.

Graduate Entry Students

GDPD from NID or B.Des from IIT Guwahati or equivalent. Should have valid CEED score.

About the Course

The broad objectives of the Ph.D. programme in Design is not only to keep pace with the expanding frontiers of knowledge but also to provide research training relevant to the socio-cultural and economic factors.

The academic programme leading to the Ph.D. degree is broad-based and involves a minimum course credit requirement and research thesis. The Institute also encourages research in interdisciplinary areas through a system of joint supervision and interdepartmental group activities. The presence of a strong research oriented faculty provides excellent opportunities for such programme.

Mode of Admission

Admissions are made through an Common Entrance Examination for Design generally conducted between January/February every year.
