Admission Notification 2007-08 for the P.G. Courses

Applications are invited for admission to the following Post graduate courses in Mother Theresa Institute of Health Sciences, Puducherry for the academic year 2007-2008

1. M. Pharm (Discipline: Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacology & Pharmacognosy – 4 seats each)(Intake: 10 seats; Duration: 2 years)

2. M.P.T. (Discipline: Orthopaedic Physiotherapy, Neurological Physiotherapy & Cardio-respiratory Physiotherapy – 2 seats each)(Intake: 6 seats; Duration: 2 years)

Admission Procedure:

(a) Allocation of Seats: 85% of the intake will be alloted to the candidates of Puducherry UT Domicile and the remaining 15% will be allotted to the candidates from Other States / UTs (All India basis)

(b) Qualification: The candidates should have passed with minimum 55% of marks in the respective U.G. Course (a mere pass for SC/ST candidates) from the UGC recognized University as detailed below:

For applying M.Pharm, Minimum marks in B.Pharm (3rd to 8th Semesters), Minimum duration of U.G.: 4 years

For applying M.P.T, Minimum marks in B.P.T. (All Semesters), Minimum duration of U.G.: 3 years course and 6 months internship

(c) Selection: Admission shall be based on GATE (All India Test) percentile. If GATE qualified candidates are not available, preference will be given to non-GATE candidates of respective area (Puducherry & Other States / UTs) on merit. The selection of Non-GATE candidates will be based on the Merit List. The merit list will be prepared giving equal weightage to the marks obtained in an Entrance Examination (50%) (for B.{Pharm holders: 3rd to 8th Semester marks will be taken for merit). If the vacency arises after adopting normal process of admission, it will be filled u by the applied candidates irrespective of allocation / reservation as per merit.

(d) Fee Structure (per year): Tuition Fee: Rs. 25,000/- Lab & Clinical Fee: Rs.10,000/-, Library Fee & other fees Rs. 1250/- and Caution / Library Deposit: Rs. 2500/- (one time & refundable)

(e) P.G. Entrance Test 2007-2008: The entrance examination in the respective subjects will be conducted by the institute on 25.10.2007 (Thursday) at 1.00 P.M. In the campus of MTIHS. The hall ticket for entrance exam will be issued in the Office of MTIHS from 22.10.2007 on producing two Photos and showing marks statements of qualifying exam.

The following documents (Photocopy) should be enclosed with the application: Age proof, Statement of Marks of qualifying exam (all Semesters / years), GATE certificate, Transfer & Conduct certificate, Nationality, Caste & Residence certificate and Medical Fitness Certificate. The application should be sent to the Dean, Mother Theresa Institute of Health Sciences, Indira Nagar, Gorimedu, Puducherry 605 006 on or before 25.10.2007 (Thursday) by 12.00 noon along with the Demand Draft for Rs. 500/- (for SC/ST Rs. 125/-) drawn on any Nationalized Bank in favour of the Dean, MTIHS payable at Pondicheery.
