About the course

Students admitted to the programme are eligible for the award of M.Sc. degree in Biotechnology on successful completion of the course.

Choice based credit system is followed in Pondicherry University where the students are at liberty to choose the courses of their interest in consultation with the Faculty Advisor. Hard core and Soft core courses in Science, Languages, Arts and Humanities offered by different departments are available and the students can construct their curriculum depending upon their ambition.

Courses offered during programme include Microbiology, Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular biology, Molecular Genetics, Applied and Industrial Microbiology, Molecular Plant Pathology, Immunobiology, Plant Biotechnology, Marine Biotechnology, Animal Biotechnology, r-DNA Technology, Immunotechnology, Bioprocess Technology, Bioinformatics and Pharmacokinetics. Besides credit seminar(s), the students are expected to carry out dissertation in the last two semesters. In addition to the above, the students shall undergo a 6-weeks training programme during the summer vacation in any of the reputed National Laboratories / Universities / Industries in India.
