Admission Notification for Ph.D Programmes - July, 2006

The Institute has been created as a National Centre of Excellence in imparting Higher Education, Research and Development in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Technology and Pharmaceutical Management. The Government of India declared NIPER as an Institute of National Importance through an Act of Parliament in 1998. The Institute is a member of Association of Indian Universities. Applications on the prescribed forms are invited for admission to the following

Department - Eligibility for Application

Medicinal Chemistry - MS (Pharm.)/MPharm/ MSc(Organic Chemistry)
Natural Products - MS (Pharm.)/MPharm/ MSc(Organic Chemistry)
Pharmaceutical Analysis - MS (Pharm.)/MPharm/ MSc(Organic/Analytical Chemistry)
Pharmacology & Toxicology - MS (Pharm.)/MPharm/ MSc(Pharmacology) /M.V.Sc./M.D.
Pharmaceutics - MS (Pharm.)/MPharm
Biotechnology - MS (Pharm.)/MPharm/ MSc(Life Sciences)
Pharmaceutical Technology (Formulations) - MS(Pharm.)/MPharm
Pharmaceutical Technology (Biotechnology) - MS (Pharm.)/MPharm/ MSc(Life Sciences)

Candidates should have a minimum CGPA of 6.75 (or 60% marks) for General, 6.25 (or 55% marks) for SC/ST, 5.75 (or 50% marks) for physically handicapped (PH) candidates on a 10 point scale in the qualifying examination and also have qualified GATE/NET. Percentage of marks or CGPA shall be calculated taking the aggregate scored by the candidate in all years or as per the norms of the concerned university/Institute etc. A limited number of seats are available for officially sponsored candidates from the Govt. Department/P.S.U./R&D organisations with minimum of 2 years experience. These candidates should fulfil all eligibility criteria except GATE/NET.

General Instructions

1. Details of eligibility, qualifications, distribution of seats, admission procedure and other relevant information are available in the Information Brochure and Institute's website www.niper.gov.in.

2. Candidates appearing for final qualifying examinations (including NET-JRF) can also apply but they must produce final result on the day of Interview failing which their candidature shall be rejected.

3. Information Brochure cum Application form can be obtained in person or by post from the office of the Registrar, on submission of non refundable Bank Draft of Rs. 1000/-(Rs.500/- for SC/ST) payable at S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali)/Chandigarh in favour of "Director, NIPER" along with Two duly typed self-addressed Slips (10 cms X 6 cms). Indian nationals residing abroad and foreign nationals have to remit US$100 by Bank Draft payable to "Director, NIPER". Payment by cheque/Postal Order will not be accepted. Candidates desirous of obtaining Information brochure by post should clearly mention name of the programme on the envelope carrying the request letter.

4. Candidates will have to make their own arrangements for travel and boarding for attending interview.

5. The Institute shall not be responsible for any loss or postal delay and applications received after the due date shall not be considered. No correspondence/ inquiry will be entertained.

6. A written test for all programmes will be held at the following centres

a) Bangalore
b) Chandigarh
c) New Delhi
d) Kolkata
e) Nagpur
f) Pune
g) Ahmedabad

However, the centres may be altered if sufficient number of candidates does not register for a particular centre.
