4th National Certification Examination for Energy Managers and Energy Auditors - 2007

As per the Energy Conservation Act 2001, it is mandatory for the designated consumers to get energy audit conducted by an Accredited Energy Auditor [under clause 14(h)and 14(i)]and to designate or appoint an Energy Manager [under clause 14(l)]. BEE has been empowered to specify the question criteria and procedures for the certification of Energy Managers and qualifications for Accredited Energy Auditors.

The passing of the National level certification examination is the qualification for an energy manger to be appointed or designated as Certified Energy Manager. For accreditation of energy auditors. Certification of energy auditor may be one of the prerequisites besides other criteria before an energy auditor is considered for accreditation. It will be the accredited energy auditor who will be allowed to conduct the mandatory energy audit under the Energy Conservation Act 2001 and not the certified energy auditor.

ELIGIBILITY:

The candidates should possess any one of the following qualifications to appear in the national level certification examination.

For Energy Managers

a) A Graduate Engineer or equivalent with 3 years of work experience.
b) M.Tech/M.E. or equivalent with 2 years of work experience.
c) Graduate Engineer with Post Graduate Degree in Management or equivalent with 2 years of work experience.
d) Diploma Engineer or equivalent with 6 years of work experience.
e) Post Graduate in Science with 5 years of work experience.

For Energy Auditors

Qualification as mentioned above at serial no. (a), (b) & (c) for energy managers.

Candidates without experience may also apply for either of the above examinations. However, the certificate will be awarded only on acquiring the requisite work experience and qualifying in viva voce examination, as applicable.

National Certifying Agency

BEE has retained National Productivity Council (NPC) as the National Certifying Agency to conduct and administer the National Certification Examination for Energy Managers and Energy Auditors.

21st & 22nd April 2007 (Saturday and Sunday)

Proposed Examination Centres (for written examination)

Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Kolkotta, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Pune, Raipur, Thiruvanthapuram and Vadodara

Proposed Examination Centres (for viva voce): Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkotta and Chennai.

Examination will contain the following papers

Paper-1 General Aspects of Energy Management & Energy Audit for EM&EA]

Paper-2 Energy Efficiency in Thermal Utilities for EM&EA

Paper-3 Energy Efficiency in Electrical Utilities for EM&EA

Paper-4 Energy Performance Assessment for Equipment & Utility Systems (open book examination)for EA.

Viva-Voce For EA.

a) For the Certification of Energy Managers, the candidates has to appear in Three Papers of written examination viz.,paper-1,Paper-2 and paper-3

b) For the Certification of Energy Auditors, the candidates has to appear in all the above Four Papers of written examination and Viva-Voce Examination.

c) Paper1,2and 3 are common for Energy Management & Energy Auditors. Any candidates, qualifying in these three papers will be eligible for Energy Manager Certification. For Energy Auditor Certification, the candidate has to qualify in all the four papers and the viva-voce examination as well. The degree of difficulty in paper 4 as well as viva-voce will be comparatively much highet than other papers.

d) For up gradation of EM certifications to EA certifications, Please refer to the Prospectus.

Prospectus & ON-LINE Registration

Prospectus can be downloaded from www.aipnpc.org and Registration has to be done ON-LINE at www.alpnpc.org as per th instructions given in the website. Links to the above website are also available at www.energymanagertraining.com and www.bee-india.in.

Supplementary candidates of 1st ,2nd & 3rd National Certification Examinations are also required to submit their application ON-LINE at www.alpnpc.org. Both fresh and supplementary Candidates should send the Printouts of filled in applications along with the requisite fee and enclosures at the below mentioned address by 31st December,2006.
