Admission to the Programme for the Session 2007-2008
School of Medical Science and Technology
Masters in Medical Science and Technology (MMST) is a unique 3-year programme for MBBS graduates (degree recognized by Medical Council of India), with aptitude for technological applications in medical science. All the candidates admitted to the programme are offered an assistantship of Rs.10, 000 p.m. Seats are reserved for SC/ST candidates and persons with disability as per Government of India rules. Reservation for OBC candidates would be implemented as and when government orders for the same are issued. MMST 2007 application can be submitted only by an online process (internet based) by accessing the website http://gate.iitkgp.ac.in/mmst during 23 Jan-22 Feb, 2007. The candidate should first pay the non-refundable application fee of Rs.1000 (Rs.500 for SC/ST category) by obtaining a demand draft in favour of ‘IIT Kharagpur’ payable at any nationalized bank in Kharagpur, West Bengal. The draft details are required while filling up the Online Form. Candidates are required to take a print of the Online Application Form after successful submission of data. The printed form with candidate’s signature and photograph and the Demand Draft must be sent by Speed Post so as to reach The Chairman, Gate, IIT Kharagpur, Kharagpur 721 302 by February 26, 2007.

Admission Test.
The admission test is of objective type to identify the aptitude of the candidates for a programme like MMST. The test is of two hour duration and held between 10.00 hrs. and 12.00 hrs. on 15th April 2006 SUNDAY. The candidate needs to answer 120 questions of one mark each (no negative marking) out of which 75 questions are assigned to the typical MBBS syllabi. The remaining questions are equally distributed to cover the syllabi of +2 level Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. In case of tied ranks, the candidate with fewer wrong answers will be placed at a higher rank.
How to Apply
MMST 2007 application can be submitted only by an ONLINE process (internet based) by accessing the website http://gate.iitkgp.ac.in/mmst during 23 Jan - 22 Feb, 2007.
The candidate should first pay the Application Fee by obtaining a Demand Draft drawn in favour of IIT Kharagpur on any nationalised bank payable at Kharagpur, West Bengal. The draft details are required while filling up the ONLINE Form. Candidates are required to take a print of the ONLINE Application Form after successful submission of data. The printed form with candidate's signature and photograph at appropriate places, and the Demand Draft must be sent by speed post so as to reach The Chairman, GATE, IIT Kharagpur, Kharagpur 721 302 by 26 Feb, 2007.
General Information for the Entrance Test
1. Candidates are advised to occupy their assigned seats 15 minutes prior to commencement of the admission test. Candidates will not be permitted to enter examination hall after 30 minutes from the commencement of the test.
2. Take out the Objective Response Sheet (ORS) from this Test Booklet without breaking the seal. If you find that the Question Paper Code does not match with the Paper Code on the ORS, exchange the booklet immediately with a new sealed Test Booklet.
3. Do not open the seal of the Test Booklet until you are asked to do so by the Invigilator.
4. Carefully read and follow all the instructions given in the ORS.
5. The Test Booklet contains 120 questions. All questions are of objective/multiple-choice type. There is no negative marking.
6. Questions must be answered on the special machine gradable ORS by darkening the appropriate bubble (marked A, B, C, D) against the question number on the left hand side of the ORS, using HB pencil. Each question has only one correct answer. In case you wish to change an answer, erase the old answer completely using a good soft eraser.
7. Use of calculator, electronic diary, cell phone, pager and any such electronic gadget is not permitted in the examination hall. Exchange of stationery items is strictly prohibited.
8. Candidates are required to write their Name, Registration number and Examination centre at the appropriate places on the ORS. The candidates must also sign in ink in the space provided on the ORS.
9. Blank pages have been provided in the Test Booklet for rough work. All rough work should be done only on the blank pages provided in the Test Booklet. No supplementary sheet will be provided.
10. Once the test starts, candidates will not be allowed to leave the examination hall for any reason till the test is over and all other formalities are completed.
11. Candidates are required to remain seated after completing the test. The invigilator will collect the ORS and the Test Booklet. Candidates will be allowed to leave the examination hall only after the ORS and the Test Booklet from all the candidates have been collected.
12. Candidates found violating the instructions of the Test and /or that given by the invigilator will be disqualified. A candidate found assisting any other candidate or seeking/receiving help from any source in answering questions or copying in any manner in the test would forfeit his/her chance of being considered for admission.
