Applications are invited for admission to the Post MSc / Junior Research Fellowship Programme in Biophysical Sciences of the Institute. The institute conducts fundamental research (theory and experiment) in frontline areas of Biophysical Sciences such as

Who Can Apply
Any students about to complete or having just completed Master's Degree in Physical / Chemical / Biological Sciences (With any two of Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics at the Bachelor's degree level and at least 55% marks at all levels).
How do we select?
The selection will be based on commendable academic records, written examination and an interview which will be held in June / July, 2006. The written examination will test the candidates basic knowledge in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology & General Aptitude. NET qualified candidates with CSIR and UGC Fellowship may be directly called for interview provided they fulfill the minimum essential qualifications. Further information is available on our website.
Travel Allowance
Candidates called for the admission test will be reimbursed return second class railway fare from their normal place of residence on production of ticket and will be paid haltage charge @ Rs. 100/- if application, as per the rules of the Institute.
Selected students have to successfully complete a one year course, the Post MSc Associateship course, prior to pursuing doctoral research at the Institute.
Fellowship and Hostel Accommodation
The fellowship is Rs. 8000/- p.m. for the first two years and Rs. 9,500/- p.m. thereafter with a fixed book grant of Rs. 3000/- p.a after one year. Limited hotel accommodation will also be admissible. First year of the research fellowship covers the Post MSc associateship course at the fundamental and advanced levels including laboratory sessions.
How to apply
Application form can be downloaded from the website (http://www.saha.ac.in/theory/post/msc/index.html) or will be available from the Establishment Section between 11.00 a.m. and 5.30 p.m. (Monday to Friday) from March 15 to April 15, 2006. To obtain application form by post, please send a self address stamped envelope of value Rs. 5/- (25 cm. x 11 cm.) by April 7, 2006. Mention, on the top left corner of the envelope "Application for JRF Bio". Application forms, duly filled along with photocopies of relevant testimonials, must reach the Establishment Section, SINP by April 30, 2006.
